Features
You will feel confident and comfortable, even on tough terrain, with a full-size Gator™ Utility Vehicle. You will feel stable with a low center of gravity and a wide stance. Engine braking and four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes keep you in control on steep descents, even when fully loaded. The power steering on M- and R-Trim vehicles, is smooth and responsive.
Standard four-wheel drive with rear differential lock
With standard four-wheel drive and rear differential lock, both instantly available with the flip of a switch, you can get where you are going.
Dual A-arm front and rear independent suspension
The independent suspension provides a smooth ride as 203 mm (8 in.) of front suspension travel and 229 mm (9 in.) of rear suspension travel cushions bumps and glides over ruts. And clearing rocks and roots is no problem with 284 mm (11.2 inches) of ground clearance.
Tires for any terrain
Full-Size Gator Utility Vehicles are available with three tire options:
- Terra Hawk all-terrain tires
- Tread pattern and wide footprint provide excellent traction with minimal impact on terrain
- Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 extreme terrain radial tires
- Radial construction provides shock absorption, allowing for a smoother ride
- Non-directional tread pattern provides predictable cornering and claws up roots and rocks
- Predator Heavy-Duty all-terrain radial tire
- Radial construction provides shock absorption, allowing for a smoother ride
- Flat profile increases footprint area, reducing ground pressure
- 8-ply rating delivers up to three times the life of Bighorn tires
Maxxis® Bighorn® is registered trademark of Cheng Shin Rubber Ind. Co., Ltd.
Full-size Gator™ XUVs are built to work hard and go the extra mile.
Heavy-duty frame
The hefty frame is designed to stand-up to all the bumps and bends of the trail, and the standard front skid plate protects key components from damage.
Constant velocity boot protection
Constant velocity joints are enclosed to keep water and dirt out. A protector shield protects the boot from trail debris.
Automotive-grade panels and optional protection packages
The hood and side panels are made of automotive-grade materials that resist scratches and dents, and the cargo box is made of tough composite material that resists dents and rust. Optional protection packages look tough and provide even more protection.

When you sit behind the wheel of a full-size Gator™ Utility Vehicle, you will be reminded of your favorite pick-up truck. There are controls at your fingertips, an easy-to-read instrument panel, and outlets to recharge your phone.
Shift from park and into gear with a throw of a single lever. Power steering on M- and R- trim vehicles is smooth and responsive.
When the going gets tough, you can instantly engage four-wheel drive and rear differential lock with switches. Even at night, the backlit switches are easy to see. If a front wheel starts to slip, the front differential automatically locks to pull you through.
When you hop into the seat of a full-size Gator™ Utility Vehicle, you will notice there’s seating for you, plus two.
Three-passenger seating with room to spare
The adjustable operator’s seat and tilt steering lets drivers of all sizes get comfortable, and the passenger grab handles help everyone feel secure. The low step height and generous opening between seat base and fender is even designed to accommodate bulky work boots.
Climate-controlled comfort
On cab vehicles, you will enjoy standard heating and air-conditioning that will keep you comfortable in every season, and the tight-closing doors help seal out dust and reduce noise. When you want to let in the breeze, you can also roll down the windows and open the front windshield.
Upgrade to R-trim refinements
R-trim vehicles have an upgraded stone-colored cab interior with headliner and rear panel to reduce noise. Standard LED headlights, sun visor, dome light, rearview mirror, and sport steering wheel round out the package.
Stone cloth seat
R-trim vehicles also include a stone cloth seat that keeps cool in the hot sun and warms up quickly in the winter.
Precision ag technologies have changed the way we farm, and John Deere has been at the forefront of that change. Adding the AutoTrac™ assisted steering system and JDLink™ Modem options to Gator Utility Vehicles brings precision ag technology to farms of all sizes.
The AutoTrac Ready option enables hands-free steering through the field decreasing overlap and lowering input costs while reducing operator fatigue. The JDLink Modem option connects your vehicle to the John Deere Operations Center so the vehicle can be managed with the rest of your fleet.
Simplify field boundaries
- Check field boundaries and identify hazards as the Gator Utility Vehicle steers itself along established boundary lines.
- Create new boundary lines, even when the soil is too wet for larger equipment.
Improve soil mapping
- The days of picking a tree across the field to navigate are over. Use guidance lines to create a sampling grid and let your Gator Utility Vehicle keep you on track as you pull plugs across the field.
Connect your Gator Utility Vehicle to the rest of your fleet
- Leave the USB drives at home as you wirelessly send your data to and from your Gator Utility Vehicle.
- A planter operator can flag the exact location of a large rock so the Gator UV can be sent to the location to remove the hazard.
Save time and stop waiting for the perfect day to spray
- When paired with a tow behind sprayer and rate controller, the Gator Utility Vehicle’s lighter weight allows work to be completed when the ground is too wet for larger equipment.
- Speed through spraying by allowing the Gator Utility Vehicle to steer a predefined path around buildings and fence rows.
Track productivity, maintenance, and machine vitals
- Track the current and past locations of your Gator Utility Vehicle in the John Deere Operations Center, just like the rest of your fleet.
- Know when your Gator Utility Vehicle is ready for scheduled maintenance
Share StarFire™ Receiver and Universal Display
- You can leave precision ag technology components installed year-round or share your StarFire Receiver and Universal Display with another piece of equipment.
The full-size Gator™ XUV can haul 454 kg (1000 lb), so load it up with confidence. You can also make fewer trips with 1814 kg (4000 lb) of towing capacity and a standard 51-mm (2-in.) receiver hitch.
Built-tough cargo box
The cargo box resists dents, scratches, and rust because it is made from a tough composite material. You will have no problem securing loads with integrated tie bars and 14 tie-down points. You can also convert the cargo box to a flatbed when you need to haul big and bulky loads.
The cargo box measures 1143 mm (45 in.) long, 1320 mm (52 in.) wide, and 305 mm (12 in.) deep.
One-handed tailgate
Since your hands are always full, the tailgate can be opened and closed with one hand. You can also lower the tailgate to carry longer items or remove it for easy cleanout.
Power lift
To save your back, the optional cargo box power lift empties heavy loads with the push of a button.
The XUV835 and XUV825M S4 Gator™ Utility Vehicles are powered by an electronic fuel injection (EFI) gasoline engine with liquid-cooled, dual-overhead cams. This engine is designed to provide maximum power and fuel efficiency to muscle through tough jobs.
It also has plenty of torque in low range, and fast speeds in high range. The enclosed drivetrain automatically adjusts for fast acceleration, along with powerful hauling and hill-climbing capabilities.
One-row full-size Gator XUVs come packed with places to store tools, gear, and beverages.
Cup holders
The dash has four cup holders, and cab vehicles have a cup holder in each door.
Dash and under-seat storage
The vehicles also feature an enclosed glove box, center tray, dash storage pocket and under-seat storage. Depending on the configuration, vehicles may have up to three additional dash bins and under-hood storage.
You will get noticed with the distinctive styling of full-size Gator™ XUVs. Available in three colors, with various protection packages, and more than 100 attachments, you can create a custom look that will turn heads.

I bought mine back in 2021. I am well pleased with it and is perfect for building fences and checking cattle. Only complaint i would have is more horse power. This machine would be perfect if it had 70 or more horses. When the A/C compressor kicks in, you can feel the loss of power.

Our new machine finally came in on January 13, 2023 to the dealership. the dealer was to then examine the machine prior to shipping to us. We received our machine on January 27, 2023 , with an empty gas tank, no windshield wash fluid, no lock mechanisms installed on either of the doors. Drivers side window crank mechanism did not work and the window could not be opened or closed. I took the machine to our local dealer to have these items repaired, which are under warranty, However all parts are back ordered and it sits at the dealership with no guarantee when parts will be received and we can use our machine. We are so very disappointed in John Deere assembly line and dealer for not checking out these items prior to our full cash payment and delivery. Buyer beware!!

I had a Kubota RTV 1100 which was a good machine. This machine is tops! I went with the gasoline version for better performance. Deere has come a long ways in making a good UTV. Very pleased with my purchase.

Bought new 18 months ago. I Love this machine. Tires are my only disappointment. Wore them out stock tires at 900 miles. Bought 10 ply Mongrels which now have 2,700 more miles (3,700 total) and they look and wear great.
